Hitting the streets with StreetSigns
We hit the streets during the Fringe yesterday for our first ever ‘StreetSigns’!
We had a great day teaching British Sign Language (BSL) at the Fringe’s Taster Stage on The Mound. Our team of staff, interpreters, and young people took to the streets of Edinburgh to teach, engage, and spread awareness of BSL and deaf culture.
StreetSigns was set up with the aim to further enhance visibility of the deaf community and the growing accessibility of the festival scene by engaging with the public in a two-way dialogue, bridging the gap between deaf and hearing festival goers. Thank you to everyone who came to say hello and learned some BSL with us!
We’d also like to say a big thanks to the Fringe for having us and to Dunbar T-Shirt Shop for kindly donating our amazing branded t-shirts. See more photos on our Instagram post.
